El Metro

Such a huge city. We have to travel by metro all the time, at least one hour daily. You see all kinds of people, rich and poor (well, not the richest of the rich), crippled, sad, in love, young, old. Mexicans are passionate, you see people kissing and hugging each other a lot. Beggars and vendors, selling everything imaginable, come accross tens of times a day. Streets are full of people selling cds, dvds, candy (delicious stuff!), food, etc. The food has made me sick. I thought I was prepared, i took all kinds of pills, but it still got me. Lovely juices and fresh fruit, nuts and ten thousand versions of tortillas attract and also repell me, you know, they are not served in antibacterial packages like in northern Europe! Life is hard for a lot of people in this city, but at least the food is cheap and good.

We are going to Acapulco with Alberto and Alejandro for a week. Everything works based on connections, and that is also how we found very cheap accomodation in Acapulco, in a beach resort. Finally I will get tanned a bit so that I will no longer stand out of the Mexican crowd so much. People stare at me a lot because of my European heritage... I would love to blend in a bit better, maybe the Acapulco sun will help me a bit with that... Let´s see:) Then I can travel on the metro without so many curious eyes on me.
